Mind The Gift is free to use. We earn money through affiliate relationships: if you buy through one of our advertising links, the retailer or its affiliate programme may pay us a commission.
1. How to recognise advertising links
Links that can earn us commission are labelled Ad · affiliate link. We also explain this above the gift results so you can see it before choosing a link.
We do not charge you a fee for using an affiliate link. The retailer sets its prices, delivery charges and offers. We do not promise that a link gives the lowest price or the same offer available through every other route.
2. The catalogue has limits
We recommend products from a selected range of retailers and affiliate partners. We do not search the whole market. A product or retailer outside our catalogue will not appear, even if it might be a good match.
Our commercial relationships affect the range available in the catalogue. Within that catalogue, the amount of commission a product could earn does not affect its position in your results.
3. How we rank suggestions
Our matching rules use the answers you give, such as interests, budget and delivery needs, together with the relevant product information. AI may help interpret interests and write explanations.
Commission rates vary between retailers and products. We do not use those rates to rank your results. We do not sell sponsored positions or let retailers pay for a better ranking.
4. Our affiliate arrangements
Our arrangements include Awin, Rakuten Advertising, Adtraction and a direct programme using UpPromote. Retailers and programmes can change over time. A link may take you through a network's tracking service before reaching the retailer.
5. Explanations and first-hand experience
The “Why this?” text explains a suggested match. It may be generated with AI and can contain mistakes. It is not a customer review or evidence that we have tested a product.
Where we add an “MTG use this!” badge, it means a member of the Mind The Gift team has personally used that product. It is not an independent test, a safety certification or a guarantee that it will suit you. An affiliate relationship can still apply and will be disclosed.
6. Tracking and privacy
Networks and retailers can use referral and transaction information to attribute purchases and calculate commission. Read our Privacy Policy for the information we receive and our Cookie Policy for tracking choices.
